1/4 Scale Saber by Daiki Kougyo
This 1/4 scale Saber figure is now available for pre-orders at Hobby Search. She’s to be released this coming November.
I didn’t bother linking her pre-order page because her asking price is quite high… Hobby Search is charging 25,650 yen for her, and it’s not like she’s as stellar as Saber Lily ~Distant Avalon~. I like her sword, hair, and the paint on her armor, but that’s it. For me, her pose makes her look like she’s pregnant — and also has that effect of being a leaning figure to begin with. Her face is a bit off, but not as much as Gift’s Saber figures are… and the attempt to give a “wind effect” on her dress is just weird.
LOL. Sorry for the rant, but that’s what I think about this figure.

Hmm, I can’t help but feel she doesn’t really warrant the high price tag.
I feel the same way. There are a lot of better figures out there that costs half the price.
You’re right, I also wondered why Saber was pregnant…
I mean, both higher asking price AND not as good a model?
I guess the price is due to her being huge, but hey, I think a huge pile of crap is worse than a tiny pile of crap, no? :D
A huge pile of crap is definitely worse. Makes me wonder if there are people gullible enough to buy her.
It’s not an issue of gullibility as much it is of fanaticism.
People who have not mini-shrines, for quality and/or cute objects, but who must have every single model/toy/etc. of some character/series.
Also, look at my “Bottom 5″ from last week’s figure review post, which include figures people like, including the Odin Sphere figure, which is on Hobby Search’s top 5 best-sellers, heh.
Hm, yes… I bet rich Saber fans who have Saber shrines might buy her… Saber shrines… ;~;
To be honest, when I first saw that Odin Sphere figure, I liked it, but then… when I saw her front view… it became ick.
More people should read my weekly posts before they shell out money.
Are we talking about the Velvet model?
We are.
Oh… I thought it looked exquisite… is it really a disappointment?
IMO, not so much of a dissapointment but the peaking nipples made it look bad for me — she’s okay, but not stellar. If Odin Sphere figures are concerned, I’d rather have Alter’s Gwendolyn or Mercedes
Alter’s Gwendolyn is pretty great. The only Mercedes I saw is from Yamato, and frankly, she’s boring.
Alter displayed their own version of Mercedes during WF Summer 2009; I’ve seen it in some blogs, and she looks pretty.
Suggestion, blog owner, limit levels of replies to 3, so it’d remain readable?
Noted, and done. This makes the threads her a bit confusing though
Observer, will reply here… so it’d be readable.
I covered it in last week’s figure friday, see my reply. The sculpting of the abdomen, the free-skin section, is indeed exquisite.
The cape is a bit bland, the rug around her pelvis is meh, her breasts are annoying, her pose somewhat ridiculous, and her cost not worth it ;)
Oh, I see. Thank you for the heads up! I agree, the price tag was a tad too high.
This week‘s “Five not”, I think more people would agree, especially as 2 of the entries are the Billy the porn-star Herrington’s figmas… especially low-quality figmas.
LMAO Oh yeah, I remember that… I had an award-winning WTF face on when I saw that figma XD
Saw this sculpt a long time ago, being sold by Gathering… didn’t look good then, and still doesn’t look good, this is one of the worst looking Saber ever. The price is way too much too… GSC and FREEing can sell 1/4 figures for around 11000 yen, why can’t Daiki?
This is so going on my “Five not” later today.
