Daiki Kougyo’s snot attack!

...you'd pay money for this?

...you'd pay money for this?

I remember when I was in my Primary school years, the store in front of our school was selling “slime in a can” and it was quite a huge hit to the boys who wanted to play with squishy rubber-smelling goo. They cost around 20-30PHP (around 40-60 yen) per container. They look a bit like that photo you see above, but the slime was more opaque.

The above photo though, is Daiki Kougyo’s brainchild it seems, and they’re selling this for 3000 yen a… container? I’m pretty sure you guys know how much I dislike Daiki Kougyo with my previous posts related to them — they charge too much, and they give us bad, bad stuff. This however — is really, I don’t even know what word would be more appropriate. I guess there are people insane enough to submerge their figures in snot (NSFW) if Daiki Kougyo think this kind of thing would sell. This is just as bad as their latest Kanu figure (NSFW) — which looks like she’s in a bowl of Jello than being in a bath tub.

Edit: If you’re interested in how the snot is used on the figures, Akiba Hobby has posted an entry about the icky gunk @_@;

    Wow… what? Does Daiki want people do deface their figures? :/ And volume one? Do they plan on releasing other colours?

      Ow. I haven’t noticed that “volume one” bit when I looked at Hobby Search. Oh gods, I hope they won’t.

      The only use I can think of this for figures, is if there are people who are interested in re-enacting ero scenes of… multi-limbed creatures. <<;

    Companies have one rule: Make money.

    As Kant said, most times when companies are charitable, honest, etc., it’s not because they do it for moral reasons, but because the publicity and good-will are worth it (not to mention tax deductions today).

    So do companies with horrible figures (Taki…), so long enough people buy their stuff, they’ll keep making it. Sometimes they overstep and overproduce.

    Now, here’s green-snot. They don’t know how well it’ll sell till after they put it out there. But their goal is the only goal companies have: Make money.

    If it works, you’ll see more snot. If it fails, you won’t see snot, and perhaps we’ll get a little reprieve before the next hare-brained idea, which might just also be the next 1 million dollar idea.

    But probably not this green snot, at this price ;)

      Yes, there is that reality. Just my wishful thinking that people could’ve given more thought into stuff like this. There’s the useless stuff you don’t really need but are nifty and desirable to buy, and then there’s stuff like… this snot.

    Apparently it’s a limited set, only 500 will be made.

    Haha, this stuff looks awesome. I’m going to wait and see exactly how it works (which is to say, I want to know if it’s easy to clean off for re-use). I’ve got some great ideas on how to use this goo.

    Daiki is actually not a bad company in comparison to Yamato, Bandai, Banpresto, Taki, Clayz, yada yada yada. While the aforementioned has made some good stuff, the quality is not consistently there.

    It’s based off of an illustration where the water in the bath tub is a sea green color akin to some water seen from parts of an ocean or at the beach given the lighting. So, in order to replicate the figure faithfully, it comes with the green ooze so that owners have the option to display her outside of the tub and not feel restricted with making pre-“fake” green water. I think it’s fairly harmless jar of slime, hahaha.

    Selling the slime for that price is really steep, but I didn’t the weight of the product. For that price, they might as well be offering a tub. The reason why it looks like a bowl and not a tub because this is the regular version and the plastic-y tub would give off that appearance.

    Lastly, the original should be a WF event exclusive to only 50 pieces because the tub is made out of real porcelain and definitely does the illustration justice. I think this is just another alternative to those who want to own the figure, but can’t afford or be able to attain one of those limited pieces.

      Thanks for the info and the insights. Most of Daiki Kougyo’s recent figures I’ve seen for pre-order are bad, and they also charge too much (even compared to prices of stellar figure manufacturers like GSC, Koto and Alter), which is the reason for my dislike for them.

      I’ve also looked at the official photo of the Kanu figure (with the artwork beside it) and I still think that the goo is gelatin green and not sea green. ^_^

        I don’t know how they would make a sea green texture without making it look gelatin gooey, haha. That cheap plastic container really doesn’t help any.

        Hahaha, “recent figures” as in that atrocity called Real Arrange Saber. Yeah, that is gross for me. I own the Daiki Haruhi and she is very beautiful. I also own the ginormous Mina Majikina and she is gorgeous.

        Still, it’s weird to be offering gloop as a preorder O.o

    LOL! I remember going “WTF!?” when I saw this XD

    I used to have this kind of thing from my Ninja Turtles toys and they were cheap! This is weird to see them again for sale, lol.
